Here are some details of a repair on a 19th century industrial lime kiln. The kiln was built against a portion of the Niagara Escarpment and was fed lime stone for burning from above. The two arched bays at the bottom of the kiln is where the quicklime was extracted after a burn. Our project was to make the defunct kiln safe and to restore some of the features to their original state. |
